When a thought comes, see it, name it, and answer it with Scripture. Do not engage it, but turn to the Jesus Prayer. Keep the door closed to these thoughts.
Why keep this log?
Christ met every temptation in the wilderness with one answer: "It is written." The Fathers made this a daily practice, teaching that a thought seen early and named is half defeated, and that Scripture and the Jesus Prayer close the door before it enters the heart.
This log trains that habit. Each entry is a small act of watchfulness: you saw the thought, you named it, and you answered it with the Word of God instead of arguing with it. Over time you learn your own patterns and store up Scripture for the next fight.
You also fight alongside your brothers. You will see that other men face the same battles, and you will be strengthened by their faithfulness. Bring what you learn here to confession and to your priest. This log supports that work; it never replaces it.
